Our Story

The story of Vinos Finos Wine Bar in Raleigh is one of love and family. Every wine lover has their first love. For Pat, the journey began when a beautiful, South American co-worker invited him to a dinner party featuring an “Argentine BBQ”, with grass-fed Argentine beef short ribs, chorizos, and Vasio (similar to skirt steak), all served with a wonderful herbal mixture called chimichurri and bread. The meal was complemented with a bottle of Malbec from Bodega Luigi Bosca (Mendoza, Argentina). His life was changed; his South American co-worker became his beautiful wife and his eyes were opened to the world of elegant wines. 

Life in this new family centered on food, wine, friends and family. Every meal was a party with many people in attendance. While eating one meal, they were planning for the next. It didn’t take long to be converted to this new lifestyle. At Vinos Finos y Picadas you’re invited to be part of the family. Laugh with friends, learn about wine and experience the romance of South America.

Pat West

Pat West, owner of Vinos Finos has spent almost half his life in North Carolina, starting with undergraduate school. After spending many years as a CEO for a major healthcare company in North Carolina, he decided to indulge his passion for great wine and great company and opened a wine café.

Pat West, owner of Vinos Finos has spent almost half his life in North Carolina, starting with undergraduate school. After spending many years as a CEO for a major healthcare company in North Carolina, he decided to indulge his passion for great wine and great company and opened a wine café.

Ginia West

Ginia was born in Argentina, and spent early life in Lima, Peru. She went to a bilingual school where she learned to speak English and Spanish fluently. At the age of 14, her father relocated to the USA. Today, she owns her own business as a Spanish interpreter. At Vinos Finos, Ginia ensures that the food items are prepared to her specifications. Ginia travels extensively to various wineries in South America meeting with winemakers and vendors, bringing our customers the best that South America has to offer.

Food Consultant

Luciano Peddis

Born in Sardinia, Italy, Luciano has worked for many years in the hospitality and food industry at high-end hotels and resorts in different European locations, before moving to the U.S, where he continued his career in the restaurant business. We are glad to have him leading our operations with expertise and passion.

General Manager

Silvano Garcia

Silvano is our Executive Chef. He moved to the United States as a young boy from Mexico City, and attended a culinary school in North Carolina. In his career, he has worked at many fast-paced, high-volume restaurants. Eventually, he joined Vinos Finos where his talent and skills shine. His creativity and attention to detail is reflected in each dish that he prepares, and the flavors of his cuisine match his presentations.

Chef
